I live in North Hertfordshire with my family and our dog, Oreo. When I'm not busy exploring the local woods with them, I support clients at my private practice in Hitchin.
I worked in the NHS as a nurse for over a decade before starting my counselling training. It was my professional and personal experiences that lead me into becoming a counsellor.
During the training I had counselling and experienced first-hand how transformative those sessions were. It helped me to feel less overwhelmed during challenging times and manage my feelings better.
I understand it can be challenging to reach out when you're struggling and it is important to find the right counsellor for you. That's why I provide a free 20 minutes phone call, so you can ask me any questions you might have and I can find out more about what you would like from counselling and what your needs are.
I aim to create a space where you will feel seen, heard, and valued. Collaboration is at the heart of my approach — I believe that meaningful change happens when we work together, co-creating a therapeutic process that honours your unique needs, goals, and pace.
Creating a foundation of safety and trust is essential in my work. I strive to cultivate an environment where you can explore even the most vulnerable parts of your experiences without fear of judgment or pressure. Safety is not just about emotional comfort, but about recognizing each client's need to feel secure in their body, boundaries, and identity.
Counselling isn’t just about working through the difficult moments — it’s also about reconnecting with your strengths, resilience, and inner wisdom. Together, we’ll explore what feels important to you, always at your own pace.
Counselling is a talking therapy, where you share your thoughts and feelings in a safe space with a qualified practitioner.
How can I help you?
We consider how your early experiences shape the way you think, feel, and relate to others. By gently exploring these patterns, you can begin to understand yourself better. This work supports you in building greater self-awareness, confidence, and more fulfilling relationships.
Trauma-informed CBT helps you understand and reframe thoughts and beliefs about past experiences. It teaches practical ways to manage upsetting emotions, memories, and reactions. Over time, you can respond to painful experiences differently, find meaning, and feel more in control of your life. Recommended by NICE.
The Rewind Technique is a gentle and effective approach that can help reduce—or even remove—traumatic symptoms. Using relaxation and guided imagery, it allows you to work through distressing experiences safely, without needing to talk in detail about the traumatic event.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) combines gentle tapping on specific points with focused attention on thoughts and feelings. It can help ease anxiety, reduce stress, and support the processing of past traumatic experiences. EFT also encourages you to challenge self-limiting beliefs and develop a greater sense of calm, balance, and confidence in your daily life.
Breathwork is a gentle practice that uses focused breathing to help calm the mind and body. It can ease anxiety, reduce stress, and support the release of tension held from past traumatic experiences. By bringing awareness to your breath, it encourages relaxation, emotional balance, and a greater sense of grounding.
Parts Work supports you in understanding the many aspects of yourself and how they influence your thoughts and behaviours. Through this understanding, you can resolve inner conflicts, release old patterns, and create a greater sense of ease and self-acceptance.
